  • check_circle ive enthusiasts from the Williamson area founded the Williamson Flying Club in 1956.
  • check_circle The first club aircraft was an Aeronca Champ, which was operated from the Palmyra airport.
  • check_circle The Williamson-Sodus airport was originally a farm and the first 1800-foot runway was seeded in July 1957.
  • check_circle Over the years the runway has been upgraded and is now a 3,800 ft hard surface asphalt runway with modern lighting and taxiways and is always under improvement.
  • check_circle By 1975 the club had expanded to 6 aircraft.
  • check_circle Today's flying club is an incorporated organization of more than one hundred and forty members. One full time and several part time Flight Instructors provide training for Private Pilot ratings as well as instruction for more advanced Commercial, CFI, and IFR ratings.
  • check_circle The clubs stated purpose is to promote and encourage interest in aviation and teach members to improve their flying skills.
